Just a few notes to let you know about two opportunities for free albums. First, Sleep Station offers a full-album download of their new release, “Blood of Our Fathers,” an emotional piece of indie-rock with heavy doses of Americana. It’s a concept album about America and war, veterans and hope, but each song can easily stand on its own as well, and the politics of it are often universal (though leaning to the left) because, ultimately, it’s an album about faith and redemption. In return for the album, all Sleep Station ask is that you vote in November. Not for anyone in particular, just participate.

The second free album is the third Ham1 album, “The Underground Stream.” It’s hard to tell exactly whose in the group, but near as I can tell its Athens indie rock starring members of Elf Power, Olivia Tremor Control, and folks who play with Liz Durrett and Vic Chesnutt. It doesn’t feel like a complete album, it’s more like a work-in-progress. There are some very fine individual cuts, mixed in with odd sound experiments and brief instrumental clips. Perfect for a rainy afternoon. It’s also a nice juxtapose for the Sleep Station, which is high-concept and fully realized.

Plus, you get both for the price of one, and the price is . . . Free!
