SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS
Posted on November 17th, 2008 by ekkoFrom Ben “Secret Machines” Curtis and Alejandra and Claudia “On-Ari Library” Deheza comes Brooklyn’s School of Seven Bells, a band that sounds a little bit like the bands from whose ashes it rises . . . But not much. It’s far gentler, and far more shoegazey than Secret Machines, but it also has a quality I didn’t hear so much in the sisters’ On-Air Library project. Maybe that’s the male influence. Or maybe it’s the folky, collaborative feel of the project. Whichever, it’s good stuff and you can catch the band on tour.
