I’m a music fan just like you, with a bit of OCD I think, also just like you.
I’m writing to you about one of my favorite bands. They’re called The Lightning Bug Situation.
The main guy in the group is also Jolie Holland’s guitar player and is all over her last three albums. He’s the real deal. Now I know you don’t like MySpace but this page actually has no music on it yet:
Yes, I swear there is a correlation just like frickin Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz and I think once the new album comes out AND you listen to it while watching the 1972 Solaris with the sound off you will be blown away. Much like I was. And maybe by the time the album comes out the band will admit to there actually being a correlation–I mean, c’mon–there totally is!
Thanks for reading, you’ve got a superb blog.

There is this guy I know who just cut an EP. I work with him. Really ought to check him out. He’s a 1 man musical band. He’s cut the whole EP solo. The name he goes by is Astrobotica Supra’ De Nova. Google it. It’s just simply music. No lyrics, but still something incredible about it.

The New Lou Reeds have been making some waves with “Bury Me with My Bong”. This is NOT a drug glorification song – one look at the band and the message is clear “kids, stay away from drugs!”

Ekko,
My name is Mike Corbett, and I am the lead singer of Midnight Spin. We are a Williamsburg, Brooklyn rock band who have been touring around the country these past few months in support of our debut EP, Through the Mojo Wire. The album was produced by our friend Nic Hard (The Bravery), and we are currently working on our first-ever music video for our debut single, In the Air (Revival). We have upcoming shows at the Mercury Lounge this Sunday and at Santos Party House on December 11. I am writing in the hopes that you would give our music a listen and a possible review, as we are looking for as many reviews as possible in our run-up to our SXSW application. Keep up the good work, you can find links to our EPK and MySpace below:
I’ll keep it short and sweet! I HATE YOU because you’re SO MUCH DOPER THAN ME!!
YOUR BLOG IS DOPE! (mine sucks), Your super hero game is on point (i’m a Gambit fan myself), Not to mention you rep NY…..I LOVE THAT PLACE (i’m from Pittsburgh, PA…don’t hate)!
Hey,
We are Our Husband. We have just released our first single, titled “Villages”.
It marks the first release from our yet to be named album. We hope to
have it finished by the end of the year.
Here’s a little about us -
After moving from cold, cold Melbourne Nathaniel (Fire! Santa Rosa,
Fire! formed Our Husband with Freya, (Bing goes to Monaco) an
established musician within the Adelaide “Tweed Pop” scene. With
intentions to stray from the currently popular “Doe eyed” genre of
folk, Our Husband write decisively more abrasive pop songs with
country and soft rock influence.
My name is Thomas DeWitt, and I am writing this email in order to bring attention to a brand new webcomic, that I have been reading as of late that I think is really great. The name of the webcomic is Wayward Sons , and it is written By Benny Powell with art by Weilin Yang.
The story is described as follows:
Every fairy tale, every legend, every myth we’ve ever believed was wrong. There are no ancient all-powerful gods. Gilgamesh, Hercules, Thor, Osiris and even King Arthur, however, were all too real.
Today, they walk among us. Rudderless, they each have their own agendas. All save a few that have seen the future – a future that would receive its salvation, not through the works of the risen warriors; but their wayward children.
The wayward sons are a group of young adults who discover that their parents are immortal aliens, once worshiped as the gods of the ancient world. Now they must defeat them to save humanity.
The Wayward Sons story is also in development by Red Giant Media/Intrinsic Value films as a motion picture please stop by and give this page a look
I made this infographic that shows which superpowers are the most (and least) popular among the heroes of the Marvel and DC universes. If you like it, feel free to use it on your site: http://ow.ly/21phS
Hi! My name is Gerald Edward and I’m an independent artist from NJ and I just released my full length debut this year. It’s wide mix of styles- rock, folk, pop. I’d like to see if you are interested in reviewing it.
You can check it out at my bandcamp page: geraldedward.bandcamp.com
If you’d like, I can send you the free download code for the album. Hope to hear from you soon!
I was wondering if you’d be willing to review my comic made exclusively for the iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch. I can either send you promocodes to download the first 2 issues for free, or I can email you PDF’s of the first 2 issues as they would appear on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
So far I’ve approached 4 small review sites, and got 4 wicked reviews, so I’m trying my luck with bigger fish (you).
Our Comic is called WMDs, as in Weapons of Mass Destruction. Its about a super-powered former assassin seeking redemption (Linda Fuentes) who joins the US government’s OSHC (Office of Super Human Control) to try to stop the proliferation of superhuman WMDs.
I listen to all submissions of entire albums. However, with rare exceptions I will not review material protected by the RIAA--I will do so only when the band is small, top notch, and provides legal links to mp3s. So Sony, BMG, etc., don't start sending me crap. I'm not interested.
I will review only submissions that I can recommend. I'm not here to do negative reviews.
Click here to tell me to remove something. I'll take it down within 24 hours.
WHAT IS INDIE MUSIC?
An independent record label (or indie record label) is a record label operating without the funding of or outside the organizations of the major record labels.
"Berkeley Place" has been my blog since 2000, at various sites.
Berkeley Place is also 6 blocks of Brooklyn real estate, emerging from Sackett St. and ending at Banana Hill, a small park that grows a foot each year from dog poop and dead rats. Though its denizens have gotten wealthier over the decades, Berkeley Place still houses folks of all backgrounds with interests in, well, everything.
