Posted on 08.17.09 by ekko @ 3:57 am

The Last Night London Burned

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I posted a boot of the Greatest Band Of All Time: The Clash.

This is a great boot of the first time Mick Jones and Joe Strummer played together in 20 years, at ActonTown Hall on November 15, 2002.  It’s Strummer and the Mescaleros until track 14, and then it’s Mick N’ Joe.  Dig it.

4 Tony Adams
5 White Man in Hammersmith Palais
6 Mega Bottle Ride
7 Get Down Moses
8 Police & Thieves

10 Police on My Back
11 Johnny Appleseed

THE CLASH: D.O.A. (Demos On Arrival)
Posted on 06.12.09 by ekko @ 3:46 am

The best collection of Clash demos and rarities, never released (and if they ain’t been now, I don’t see them coming out ever–Clash ain’t Tupac, after all).  It starts with their earliest Polydor sessions (1976) and goes up through 1982.  Some of these are even better than the originals.  I’m throwing up disc one.  If there’s interest, I’ll put up disc 2 later.

This will be up for a limited time–so get it now.

Disc 1

Polydor Demos:
01 – Career Opportunities
02 – White Riot
03 – Janie Jones
04 – London’s Burning

14 – Heartbreak Hotel [take 1]
15 – Heartbreak Hotel [take 2]
Promo Video Shoot:
16 – 1977

THE CLASH: THE BEST OF THE ‘84 TOUR
Posted on 04.16.09 by ekko @ 5:09 pm

This is the first of a two CD set, but I only have disc one. It’s cuts from the 1984 Clash tour–not their best, but not their worst, either. Quite a few rare songs will be found here, such as Ammunition, Are You Ready for War, and Glue Zombie. I’m too lazy to write all the songs here in this post, so you’re just going to have to DL the ZIP and trust me that if you like the Clash, this CD is worth having just for the versions of Spanish Bombs and In The Pouring Rain.

UNZIP IT!

THE CLASH-2/17/84
Posted on 03.11.09 by ekko @ 9:32 am

Haven’t spread Clash love recently, so I thought I’d throw this one up.  It’s from a show in Stockholm, Sweden, from February 17, 1984.  Audience recording, not great quality but not terrible either.  What makes it cool is some of the song choices are ones I haven’t heard often.  A few tastes then a zip.  Dig it.

Safe European Home
Know Your Rights
Are You Ready For War
Rock the Casbah
Sex Mad World
Clampdown
The Guns of Brixton

FUNERAL PARTY-”Bootleg EP” . . . And bonus Big Audio Dynamite!
Posted on 02.09.09 by ekko @ 7:56 am

I was kinda hoping I could be one of the few first who wrote about Funeral Party’s energetic, chaotic, brash and ballsy EP. And I kinda am. The “Bootleg EP” is the digital only release that announces this band’s arrival with hard guitar riffs, snarls and growls, and L.A. sound. Because “New York City loves to mess around with the L.A. sound.” Oh, and it’s got cowbell, too. They’re touring with ….And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and I’d say their sound is somewhere between that band and DFA 1979.

Funeral Party’s debut album is set for release on April 21st.

Buy it here. It’s worth the price.

Car Wars

BONUS! LIVE BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE FROM 1988!

A high-quality, 5-song set. Goes nice with the Funeral Party. Old-style punk fusion and the modern version. Dig it.

C’mon Every Beatbox
