1408. The rare example of a genuinely scary movie.

Mr. Brooks.

The Bourne Ultimatum.

American Gangster.

Live Free or Die Hard.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Gone, Baby, Gone.

The Mist. Another really scary movie, and a traditional monster movie at that!

The Kingdom. Far better than I expected.

Shoot ‘Em Up. If you didn’t like it, you must not like Bugs Bunny.

Darkness.

Ocean’s Thirteen.

Rescue Dawn. Christian Bale is becoming of the best actors of this generation.

Talk to Me. Don Cheadle is another brilliant actor who doesn’t get enough props.

3:10 to Yuma.

30 Days of Night.

Surf’s Up.

Halloween. One of the best remakes ever.

In the Valley of Elah. Tommy Lee Jones at his finest.

Lars and the Real Girl.

Charlie Wilson’s War.

300.

I am Legend. Visually stunning, even if the movie didn’t make a lot of sense.

Death Proof.

Hot Fuzz.

Pride.

Planet Terror (a.k.a. part of Grindhouse)

We Own the Night.

The Hoax.

Death Sentence. Bacon’s no Bronson, but a good B-movie anyhow.

The Hunting Party.

TMNT.

Sicko. I’m a M. Moore fan, but this one was all over the place.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Could (and should) have been better.

Rendition. The key to enjoying this film? Low expectations.

Enchanted. Yeah, it’s for girls. But it was nice.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo

The Brave One.

Resident Evil: Extinction. I loved the first one, but this one was just so so.

War.

Superbad.

Alpha Dog.

Freedom Writers.

The Hills Have Eyes 2.

Superman: Doomsday.

Shooter.

The Game Plan. Not nearly as bad as it should have been. Good for kids.

Into the Wild. Good soundtrack, but wasn’t this movie kinda dull?

Ratatouille. Come on, people really liked this?

Knocked Up. Come on, people really liked this, too?

Juno. I found this pic smarmy and stupid. I know I’m in the minority.

The Darjeeling Limited. Far more boring than I expected.

The Hitcher.

Alvin and the Chipmunks. I would rather be stabbed in the ear than watch this again. And yet, it’s nowhere near the bottom of my list!

Smokin’ Aces.

Black Snake Moan. Not even Ricci’s bare talents could save this crap.

Rush Hour 3.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. Aggravatingly stupid.

The Descent. A very good horror movie that will stay with you for a long time.

X-Men: The Last Stand.

Waist Deep. Check out this little ghetto thriller. It’s a lot better than you’d think.

Lady in the Water. I may be the only person in the world who appreciated this movie.

Blood Diamond.

V for Vendetta.

The Good Shepherd.

District B13. Very impressive martial arts flick.

16 Blocks. Far better than it ought to have been, mostly due to Bruce and Mos Def.

Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World.

Monster House. A better kids flick than Cars, certainly, but far fewer people saw it.
